Now that Carnival is over have you really listened to what All Stars has played. Smooth offerings year after year, no matter what his supporters think, is what people who listen to Steel Band music call disposable music. Music that his own players refuse to play again. Check his arrangements over the past fifteen years, see if you hear anything that would make you sit-up, take notice and say nice passage.
In 1987, he played played Curry Tabanca, I doubt he could explain what he was trying to do, Smooth got so lost he still has not found an ending for that piece of noise. I have asked one supporter what he liked so much about the piece and he stated the Tassa part.
Please listen to his offerings then listen to Phase II then listen to what he played again. Be truthful and objective. What do you think as for the best Panorama arrangement? Take Pellam Goddard's solo out and you have nothing.
All Stars supporters have to thank tv and radio for using it for every fete and pan advertisement and fill-in. It continues to be play so something can stick to your memory. There are so many Panorama arrangements that are so much better, here are a few to start with: Hold On To Uh Man, Mas in South, The Wrecker Panman, Queen of the Bands, Pan On The Move, Pan in Harmony, Rebecca, Natasha, I Music, This Feeling Nice, Happy Birthday, and Musical Volcano. Please get these arrangements and listen keenly to them.
It is amazing that he continues to get high marks. One Judge stated he gave them high marks because he likes how the players "get on excited" and did not feel any shame in saying so.

When people say that panorama is in a box it is MY opinion that All Stars and another band is the reason, and it is because of their arrangers style. Some people like it others don't, because of their style they sound like they play the same thing every year, this happen to Renegades couple years ago with Jit.
My comment was in no way ment to disrespect All Stars.
