Ontario Canada - This documentary by Claire Prieto and Roger McTair examines steel drum production, education, performance and cultural influence in Ontario in the 1970s and 1980s. It follows the stories of men and women who work with steel drums in various capacities, including a steel drum tuner, university and primary school students performing on steel drums, as well as two steel band orchestras.

  • This is wonderful , quite wonderful and I love the approach.

    However, I have a question : why is the approach not from the double seconds instead of the hihest voice.

    Smokey John was my teacher. His approach was from the double seconds because it allowed a broader understanding of the pan rather than the single approach of the soprano or tenor pan as some musicians like to call it. ultimately it depends on the student.

    However I agree with Smokey because it allowed a better understanding of the instruments.
