Once upon a time before COVID-19 and ZOOM - the Canadians would travel south to Brooklyn for the Panorama Steel Orchestra competition and drop musical science.
Here is Pan Fantasy Steelband on the night before Panorama - performing Big People Party. Al 'Allos' Foster, the arranger, is a bad man. He brings the full philharmonic sound to the yard through his arrangements . Yep, straight up a 9.1 immersive audio experience live in the panyard. Only, the late Clive Bradley and a select few of the arrangers consistently bring that attention and detail to that Big Band Sound.
Imagine the Panorama experience the audience would have had if WIADCA engineers weren't jacking up the sound every year?
And if Pan Fantasy ever develops that Brooklyn Panorama attitude of no prisoners allowed? Watch out!
