Can someone please convince Pan Trinbago to only allow single pan bands to play old compositions and large, medium and small bands play current songs, these arrangers are getting lazy and just recycling the same songs every year we're tired of hearing Lorraine, Stranger and Pan in A minor, to name a few, there is very little interest in listening to these bands," we cannot forever live in the past"!

I AGREE WITH YOU GUYS 100%.I THINK IT IS OK!!"FOR SINGLE PAN BANDS" TO GO BACK IN TIME AND CHOOSE THEIR PANORAMA CALYPSO MUSIC, BECAUSE THEY ARE REPRESENTING STEELBAND FROM THE 1930s and 40s..THE SMALL,MEDIUM,AND LARGE BANDS ARE REPRESENTING THE PROGRESS THE STEELBAND HAS MADE FROM THEN TO NOW.........THEREFORE PANTRINBAGO SHOULD MAKE IT MANDATORY THAT THEIR "PANORAMA MUSIC" BE CHOSEN FROM THE POPULAR/CURRENT CALYPSO OR SOCA MUSIC ......THIS IDEA WOULD INCREASE SUPPORT FOR THE SHOW IN TERMS OF ATTENDANCE!.......MORE PEOPLE IN ATTENDANCE .....MORE MONEY IN THE PANTRINBAGO COFFERS..... MORE MONEY IN THE COFFERS... MORE MONEY IN THE " POCKETS"OF THE "HARD WORKING STEELBAND PEOPLE"............"FIRE GO "BUN" THEM IN THIS PANORAMA"... PEACE AND LOVE!
I always wondered what would happen if we selected a panorama tune every year! In other words have all the bands play the same tune so we could really see the difference in the Arrangements and execution of the production! That way you could hear a distinct Intro-Verse-Chorus and then see where the development of the Creative juices lead too. It's just an idea!
It almost happened when 7 of the 8 bands in the final played 'Tribute to Winston Spree' in 1975. All Stars, Renegades, Despers did not qualify that year.

That idea already exists. "Pan is Beautiful" did that for years. Have everybody play a "test piece" but with their own arrangement. But with a test piece you ALSO had to play a classical piece adapted for pan. I dont think I want Panorama to turn into "Pan is Beautiful". Variety is good.

Too many categories.....single, small, med, large. That's a bit much. I agree with the writer re old tunes.
What happen to these bands that play's old tunes is, They are to backward to go forward.
i have to say i agree with you . as you stated we are stuck in a time tunnel, not only recycling old tune but also same old arrangements repeated year after year. some arrangers take the same exact arrangements and just place in into a new song, and they win panorama with it. there is no more creativity in the music, because everybody wants to win and play the same tune again. if you do not know, listen to some of the large bands this year
