Do you think that Arrangers that arranging for their alternate bands (Medium/Small/ Pan round the neck) is just a Hustle or do you think they put their heart and soul like they do with their Main band? just asking!

  • An arranger MUST be professional and do what he is paid to do

  • BEDE LOPEZ we need all medium bands to be competing in the large band category period. This will be great for many new upcoming arrangers. Presently they are stuck in a group that no pan fan actually respects. Honestly I don't even care who the winner is in medium band category. I will feel great if they are grouped and some of these bands qualify for the LARGE band finals based on their music.

    • Now yuh talkin' Patrick….because as I said before and will say again…the Single Pan category fields 66 in the prelim round, 32 in the semis which gets cut down to 16 in the finals…Small fields 57 in the prelim, 20 in the semis…10 in the finals ….medium fields about 30 in the prelims about 15 in the semis and 10 in the finals…Large?…a pretend prelim of 14 where all go to the semis and 10 in the finals…so we all stupid…right? I'm in support of your suggestion to group Medium and large into one…It will go a long way towards new arrangers finding their voice…and that is what growth and development is all about….

      • Yes  merrytonestothebone, I say join them medium and large, young arrangers need this to develop. They will be required to put more creative work into their arrangements in order to qualify.

  • A hustle BEDE LOPEZ. Take Boogsie for example. Phase 11 music is always miles ahead of any other band he arranges for. Now tell me why?

    • Boogsie is the only arranger so far to win Panorama in every region (the 3 regions), the traditional pan round de neck, and the National Panorama in the same season 1987. That aint no hustle!

      • Agreed Bertel Gittens, I believe that was before the stupid invention of Small Band, Medium Band and LARGE BAND categories.

        • It makes no difference here Patrick, all they did was to substitute the regions to small, medium and large for the Arrangers. Its the same difference!

          • No its not. And it makes a big difference. Its like having a class of 30 students and you decide to take the top 10 students and give then a different test from the others. The next set of brightest students is in  the middle, you give them a different test. Finally the bottom 10, you give them a different test. So you see, just like pan arrangers, you who are in the bottom pack can't compete with the top10 best.

            • All the Arrangers (Big & Small) participate in the medium not so, and the best of them in the Large does get GOOD CUTASSE in the Medium, no so? Well? And even in the Large sometimes the Best of them would get a cutasse although not very often. Wey yuh say? The only thing is that the large bands are institutions and have permanent arrangers, and there arrangers know their bands well enough to work with them. My opinion.
