  • You know what's wrong with this situation it's people like Mr Gonzalez.Mr. Diaz does what he does because it's given justification by persons like Mr. Gonzalez I have read some of the statements he has made in the past and with that in mind Pan people should stay far and wide from anything he has to say about the issues. Pan men and women break free of that yolk called Pantrinbago and organize in that way we can do something for Pan.Forget about Panorama for now and concentrate on getting ri of the people who are self serving and to be blunt crooks what's at stake is your future all we have to hold on to is this farce called Panorama the rest of the world has taken our instrument to a different level while we try to win a Panorama that most of us will never experience I wonder why pioneers like Ellie Mannette took his talent elsewhere never to be part of the growth of our National Instrument in the so called MECCA
    • Andrew, Mr Gozalez is actually the reverse to what you think. He is applying what is called reverse psychology but in a situation where the pan players are actually the losers and Diaz and Pan Trinbago Board win all the time simply because pan players and bands have not understood their actual power. Pan players and steelbands have been trapped by the proverbial carrot which is Panorama. For years now pan players and steelbands have been paid very late just days before the next Panorama for the past Panorama which was one year ago. This has been going on a very long time. Both government and Pan Trinbago know that they will be paid but paid mere days before the current Panorama. Then like little donkeys-the pan players and by extension the steelbands as they get paid for the last Panorama, they agree to play again at the current Panorama. This is a trapped enslavement system concerning our so called T&T love for pan. Why pioneers like Ellie Mannette took his talents abroad you ask. Because Ellie decided that his talent was one not of slavery but of freedom from slavery. There lies the difference in thinking. He did not want to stay within a slavery mentality system. He wanted to become an entrepreneur and so he did and continues to be the best example of a steel pan businessman. It is a business and can be a very profitable business at that. But if we simply depend on the funds of the tax payers through government payouts, then governments uses the excuse all the time that funds are short and may cut their promises by half or may take long to issue payouts. So another system needs to be developed now in the 21st century concerning pan, pan players, and steelbands, and turning the carrot of Panorama to a real business deal for every pan player, every band but in a world wide arena using the World Wide Web the widest arena far wider than the Savannah in POS Trinidad. But in order to achieve this, the pan players and steelbands must step out of their comfort zone of simply receiving the Panorama carrot funds each year one year later.

What Mr. Gonzalez is doing is pointing out this stupidity of the pan players and steel bands begging each year for their small funds one year after the fact only to shut up again and wait another year for the current Panorama proceeds. This is called mental slavery. That is what has to be given up by the pan players and bands. In this way both government and Pan Trinbago know that will not happen as yet. It could happen but to begin this process pan players and bands must withdraw their memberships from Pan Trinbago entirely and bring the organization to an end and come together and create a worldwide steelband body raising funds internationally through the use of the WWW which is now possible. Until then in the reverse psychology of Mr. Gonzalez opinion, pan players and steel bands are being yet again outsmarted by Mr. Diaz and his bunch in Pan Trinbago and government plays the stand off game. It's a trick of slavery. Try to understand it.

  • Claude your boy was exposed last night. Dane and Boogsie hit all the right notes. The melody was a simple one and direct one the whole executive board must go immediately. Unfortunately, some of the small band folks were there and move the meeting off message. They will be the death of pan.

    • But that was the POLITICAL GENIUS that Keith Diaz brought to his PAN TRINBAGO ascendancy. He traversed the whole island going from small band to small band and winning their numbers and loyalty when nobody had time for them. Then he continued to pass a little small change every so often to keep them happy and keep the numbers on his side. All Boogsie and Dane could do is show rage and scream. But as Mr. Diaz told that traitor (Byron Serrette): Pan Trinbago runs on democratic principles; if you want to take my power you got to beat me in an election ... if you have the votes.

My favorite Richard Pryor line (which was not even funny): That's the politics, baby!!!

      • While Dolly is in office the large bands must move to divorce themselves from Pan Trinbago and set up their own representative body. Only then will Pan move forward in Trinidad and Tobago. And the small bands can ride their coat tails and benefit from trickle-down economics..

Don't underestimate college boy. Claude lookout for the January surprise.
