Avoid Chaos………. Keep the Elections
Under article1 Convention of the constitution, article 1a clearly states that the convention be held once every three years for the purpose of determining policy of the association and to elect members to the central executive. The AGM is where reports are to be presented (as is stated in article d under annual General meeting), however in the past for convenience the AGM and convention were held simultaneously. Under article 10 Elections, article 10. 2 clearly states that all elected officers shall hold office for a term of three years from the date of their election to office. There is no provision in the constitution allowing for extension of elected officers. An extension can only be achieved through a mandate by the membership. Whatever method is used to seek such a mandate can also be used to hold the elections. Simply put, the executive must dimit/demit office by October 31st, and cannot conduct any business on behalf of the organisation. Failure to do so will result in the membership taking control of the organisation one way or the other.
If current restrictions due to the pandemic continues, i would like to suggest that the elections be held regionally placing ballot boxes in each region; that the candidates be allowed an observer in each region; that polling takes place between the hours of 10am and 6pm; that delegates cast their votes and leave. This will avoid the constitutional and organisational chaos that would follow without an election while satisfying all covid19 protocols.

Where have you been for the past ten years? For Pan Trinbago, the Constitution is just a piece of paper to be trotted out at their convenience. Be it the Keith Diaz executive or the Ramsey-Moore executive, same level of disrespect. Buh we like it so!
