Birdsong Steel Orchestra, after several successful years, will be once again hosting its international program that welcomes players from all over the world to perform with the group for the upcoming 2018 Trinidad & Tobago Panorama competition.
This year’s program will include a new arranger, Rudy “TwoLeft” Smith, who previously arranged for the band on multiple occasions, taking them to the finals on numerous occasions. Smith takes over for Mia Gormandy, who arranged for the band for the 2017 Panorama.
The 11-day program will feature three two-hour masterclasses with Smith, Willard “Lord Relator” Harris and Peter Minshall, rehearsals and performances for preliminary and semi-final rounds of Panorama, and excursions to major attractions in Trinidad, including Las Cuevas beach and downtown Port-of-Spain.

My question is , do we know as a fact that Ms. Gormandy was "fired" ?
There are several reasons why a band would change arrangers , including mutual consent , but somehow whenever a band changes arrangers we always see it as a strike either against the band , or the arranger , when it could be neither.
Do we know the reason for the change , or are we just assuming the worst ?

International Project 2018
Once again we're making the call to the international steel band community to come to Tunapuna, Trinidad to participate in the International Project for Panorama 2018. Mr. Claude Gonzales I usually refrain from replying to nonsense but I have come to the conclusion that you listen to music with your eyes and not your ears. With all due respect to Ms. Gormandy, having a paper qualification in music does not necessarily make one a good panorama arranger!! The pedigree of Rudy Smith as a panorama arranger is unquestionable. And your reference to him as a 'Washed Up Old Man' shows that your level of stupidity and ignorance is boundless, limitless and defies belief. It is also insulting to one of the true pan virtuosos who is respected worldwide for his creativity and prowess.
