In the nineteen fifties, the Cuban mambo sounds were very popular with steel bands, and were even heard on the road at Trinidad Carnival.
The Brute Force Steel Orchestra of Antigua was one of the best known and most popular steelbands in the Caribbean in that era.
From the 1955 Cook album "Brute Force Steelbands of Antigua", here are two mambo selections, "Mambo Jambo", and "Mambo No. 5". Both of these tunes were composed by Perez Prado who was mainly responsible for popularizing the mambo in the fifties. ...Glenroy Joseph
