The band needs a person or group to manage them, how can we use this forum to assist them? I will like to believe that we have people here with the ability to assist directly or make recommendations,  what can we do?.

  • If I had to manage a STEELBAND on a tour of AMERICA it will be strictly DANCE MUSIC ... none of that CLASSICAL SHADOWING. I will play only POPULAR SONGS most of them in CALYPSO TEMPO like SILVER STARS did with DR. ZHIVAGO and STARLIFT did with PENNY LANE. I will throw in a couple calypsos and a few POP SONGS covered in the original rendition. I have said it before and I will say again: I will use a SIX MAN BAND with 5 E-PANS and one REAL PAN.

This discussion got me dreaming dreams that I will never see realized.

  • On behalf of the entire group I sincerely want to thank Mr. Hinkson for his earnest efforts to help us. I also want to thank everyone who volunteered to help in anyway they can and also those who gave their opinions as they are all valid points to consider.

We are indeed looking for a person(s) who can help in managing the group, specifically in the areas of marketing and publicity, tours and obtaining record deals or even a sponsorship contract. Of course, such persons can expect a percentage of profit. We have approached persons in the past but so far none were in the capacity to take on such a task.

We look forward to working with those who offered to assist. Nevertheless, with or without help we are aware of our responsibility as cultural ambassadors and we will continue to do what we can as such. Thank you for all the support and encouragement.

    Best,

    Khari

  • I think the biggest selling point the Codringtons has is  their ability to switch to conventional instruments, international audiences will be blown away by their talent, but the clock is ticking for them, It won't be long before the start getting married and having their own families. many ah times LIFE just gets in the way.

  • Along the lines of this discussion, I would like to advise the CODRINGTON PAN FAMILY to add two songs to their repertoire if they are coming to perform in North America. "SARAH" and "TOBAGO JAM" are two songs composed by Boogsie Sharpe which were featured on THE OUR BOYS STEEL ORCHESTRA'S "PAN PROGRESS" CD. These two songs mesmerize American Audiences like I have never seen any other LIVE STEELBAND  PERFORMANCES do.

  • This steelband is also in need of a sponsor, so if you know someone who know someone that can put in a good word with a company that want to associate themselves with a dynamic band look no further, you could not find better group of young people.
