The British Cultural and Heritage Association (BCHA) is calling on aspiring orchestra musicians in Durban to register for the annual Massed Orchestra event at Nkulisa Conference Centre on 21 October.

Bryan Clark and his Caribbean Connection Steel Drum Band will perform at the event.

This year’s massed ad hoc orchestra of prospective players will perform under the seasoned baton of local conductor Sue Cock.

All participants must be able to read, play music and are required to pay an entry fee of R60.

Participants can register and play as individuals or group. To register, interested players can contact Cheri Steenberg of the BCHA on 031 202 6174, who will email applicants a registration form. All participants who have paid will receive music to be performed via email from Steenberg.

“Participants are encouraged to register well in advance of the event,” the BCHA said. “They must be as conversant as possible with the prescribed music, to ensure that the concert will be an amazing experience if everyone performs at their best and delivers a successful team effort.”
