The Social Welfare Division of the Social Development and Family Services Ministry began the first step in its twelve-month journey to divisional transformation at an Insights and Discoveries workshop facilitated by the Ministry of Public Administration on February 26 at the Old Fire Station Building, Port-of-Spain.

Speaking to participants, permanent secretary Jacinta Bailey-Sobers indicated that the expected outcome of the day’s session was to begin to identify the aspects of the work of the Social Welfare Division which require attention to effect the necessary transformation.

Bailey-Sobers further stated that, “as Trinidad and Tobago endeavours to fulfil the needs of every citizen, the image of the Ministry must be transformed. Key to this is the establishment of a knowledgeable and competent workforce which will ensure that no person or group is discounted or left behind, on the path to progress.”
