Calypsonian and former Mayaro MP Winston 'Gypsy' Peters has been appointed as chairman of the National Carnival Commission.
The appointment was announced in a press release from the Ministry of Community Development and the Arts.
Peters, who was once Minister of Arts and Culture under the People's Partnership Government, replaces Colin Lucas who was appointed chairman in November last year.
In an interview with the Newsday, Peters said he was prepared to serve his country in any capacity he could.

Well, Tobago Carnival will now take on a new face according to Gypsy in his thoughts in the past.
we shall see when he cant have his own way
when he can't have his own way: He will write and sing ah NASTY CALYPSO!!!
Gypsy was the only politician to CALL OUT Pan Trinbago. But since he switched parties he has to TOW THE DOLLY LINE now. And, clearly, Colin Lucas was TOO MUCH OF A BIG MAN to stand NONSENSE just to have a GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENT!!!
I agree, Gypsy does have an attitude toward the steelband.
Gypsy is not a friend of the "Panman and Panwoman" the first thing he did when the UNC made him the minister of Culture IS CUT THE PANORAMA PRIZE MONEY BY 50%.......PEACE
Why, because he told pan man to start standing on they own feet? Gypsy is a wise man, and more friend than foe to pan.
It is OBVIOUS to me why COLIN LUCAS stepped down. But I am taking the HIGH ROAD for a CHANGE!!!
Very interesting, but is he in any position to do anything about PTB? I doubt it.
