At least for the next FIVE YEARS!!! And for us it is NOW OR NEVER. At our age who knows when St. Peter may call.
Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Rowley has promised to bring legislation in Parliament that will limit the number of ministries in T&T. Addressing PNM supporters in Belmont on Friday, Rowley said this will form part of the party’s policy when they return to office.
Rowley said the PP Government had too many ministers and with each Cabinet reshuffle, the numbers continue to grow.

Very good perception Lillian
The mere fact that we are having this discussion on a Pan Ministry is great fuel and food for thoughtful thinkers.A Ministry of Pan is the ultimate trajectory of Pan & Politics.
This situation is not something to be feared by Pan Trinbago but rather they should welcome this development...it actually eliminates the "middle man" ...they do not have to report to the Culture Ministry ..but directly to the Pan Ministry. The research and feasibility studies must also be done to complement the discussion and this is presently in progress......

Anybody who thinks that the last administration would do anything for pan is delusional at best.
Maybe they might have had a ministry of Tabla but certainly not pan
Did any previous gov't do anything for pan? We control pan, we are the Ministry of PAN and we have not taken it anywhere.
The Ministry of Tabla may have surpassed the pan if they had it. WHAT A TWIST!! NO WONDER'
We certainly need to adjust our thought processes. WOW!!!!!
A Pan Ministry in Trinidad and Tobago is possibly one of the best vehicles for taking the pan forward in the future.
At the moment it is the topic of an academic dissertation.

I speak from experience- academic and practical. Research, dissertation and discussion is always useful, but the answer to development needs, particularly in the arts, is seldom the establishment of yet another bureaucracy.

Salah, thank you for answering Lilian lol...
Cecil, I realize that I sounded dismissive, but that was not my intention. I genuinely want to know what your thoughts are on this. My experience, and that of many others, (notably Pat Bishop, who died in a cultural committee meeting after delivering an almost Shakesperean speech about the futility of such meetings) has been that research and feasibility studies are done, proposals made and accepted, approved by parliaments, passed into law, funds allotted and then......... But, past experiences do not determine future outcomes: 'nothing done before time' and 'nothing can stop an idea whose time has come.' Maybe it is time for a Ministry of Pan. Would it replace Pan Trinbago and the Pan office within the Ministry of culture, become an umbrella body or the ultimate legal and executive authority for all steelband related matters in Trinidad?
Lilian, Seeing that the steelpan was invented in T&T it is the duty of the Government to make sure it is developed to it's full potential. It is my opinion that we can only achieve this if they have a hands on approach. A Ministry of Pan responsible for all steelband related matters.
Ah wonder what allyuh would say, if Dr Rowley create that position and make Mr Keith Diaz the head of the Ministry of Pan,
