Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Nineteen-years-old pan prodigy Keisha Codrington (Codrington Pan Family) left the competition in her wake (including her older brother Khari) after the preliminary round of the soloist category in the Pan is Beautiful XII Music Festival.
Performing on opening night on Saturday at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Codrington’s rendition of Lord Kitchener’s “Pan in Harmony” blew the patrons away and earned the loudest applause on the night. Her performance also resonated with the judges who gave her 275 points, 11 more than her nearest rival.
It took almost 24 hours before the judges heard second place Joshhua Jabari Bedeau who performed on Sunday. His rendition of Vanessa Alexandra Headley’s composition “Call Me Hero” also drew the loudest applause on that day. Bedeau is a member of Golden Hands Steel Orchestra.
