This is like opening up a can of worms here, just for debating purpose, this is not a pan song as some may say, the original by Andre' Tanker may be considered an authentic pan song because it continues in the "drumming traditions".
Can any arranger take it to the panorama battle and have an impact?
odw, I understand but I had to answer Bede, as-a-matter-of -fact let me just set the record straight, it is my opinion that Andy is one of the best arranger, composer, and player in the game, he produces the best steelpan CDs in terms of sound, my only beef with Mr Narell is how he hears panorama music. I agree with you , Masai ., though I quite understand where Robert Saldenha is coming from.
I love Dalton's unique writing style , whether it's about panorama , his personal experiences and reflections on war , or , as in this case , an album review.
It may be an acquired taste . I suppose , but I find his use of language to express his thoughts very refreshing , enjoyable and beautiful.
It also gives some insight to the thought processes of a very complex , intelligent and articulate individual.
So , keep writing , informing and educating us in your own way , Dalton.

Glenroy: Much gratitude for your comment. In a sense, you're thinking inside the box of writers everywhere. For each one commits to his or her style. I've always maintained that the craft flows unconsciously and I'm simply the conveyor. I can't write like anyone else but me. Believe this, I never start out with the intent to tout an artist's work. Or knock it. A review is a point of view. How the work reaches the reviewer. The Guardian published an earlier version, and I gave WST a moderately different slant. That's because I had a slightly different view of the same landscape. And it was so I expressed the rider angle. Great CD, sure, but here's another way I heard it. So your point is well taken.
