Dear Pan friends - I plan to bring enough young musicians to T&T in November to form the first ever Commonwealth Creative Orchestra and should like to ask your advice. There are some talented young instrumentalists coming from the UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc, plus a group of excellent African drummers.
What would you all think about including some brilliant young Steel Pan players in the Creative Orchestra as well?
I need to confirm the personnel in the Creative Orchestra as soon as possible. Four composers willl be writing short lively works for it to celebrate CHOGM. The orchestra will also learn to play and improvise together in other ways. It should be a very interesting mix indeed.
What does the Steel Pan community think about this idea? All the young musicians are busy raising their own funds to come to T&T because they are desperate to meet and work with your musicians. They are very excited. Please would you be so kind as to let me know any thoughts and suggestions you might have? I certainly do not mind criticism and would welcome ideas!!
