Cops threaten to boycott Panorama

Trinidad Guardian

There will be no police presence for Sunday’s Panorama semifinals and at all other major Carnival events.

So said president of the Police Service Social and Welfare Association Insp Anand Ramesar.

He added if Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar did not intervene immediately and settle salary negotiations before Sunday then the country’s security would be threatened.

  • It's sad when you have so-called politicians ripping off the nation to the tune of billions of dollars, some even claiming that they already made their billion, and those whose job is to defend the nation not getting a raise in pay. It's a crying shame. I really don't blame them. To bad they had to choose Panorama to vent their disgust and anger with the " Den Of Thieves ". Now that oil prices have plummeted, you know they'll claim that they have no money, as though the money is theirs to begin with.

  • Cops have families too, pay the people.

    • My guess Pan Trinbago money not good enough...

Five cops with guns held on yacht

...spotted with known drug lord by Coast Guard

An investigation has been launched into the conduct of five police officers held by Coast Guard officers yesterday morning.

The officers, all of whom are attached to

the North-Eastern Division Task Force (NEDTF), were detained by the Coast Guard’s Special Naval Unit (SNU) after being spotted on board a yacht with a well-known El Socorro drug lord.

According to Coast Guard reports, at around 11.36 a.m., the officers—an acting sergeant, an acting corporal and three constables—were aboard the yacht Cross 1 when they were intercepted by SNU.

Sources say the yacht was stopped in the vicinity of Carrera Island and the officers were among 26 individuals on board.

  • So.. the police and firemen haven't received a raise in seven years. I don't blame them for being angry, but if they weren't given raises in the past, I doubt they'd want to pay them now , with the drop in oil prices.

And this should also be a warning to pan people , since the government are the ones who provide the panorama funding.

My mother used to say , when your neighbor house catches fire , you better wet yours down.

So don't be too surprised if in a few months pan people are also cussing and fighting to get paid.

That was a sizeable drop in oil prices , and while we're enjoying it with cheaper fuel in the US , that is a big hit to the economy of T&T.

    .

  • You are so correct! !!
  • /What,s the difference. Pan Trinbago will save some money; the T&T Police do not catch criminals any-way. They are inaffective.
