COURSE IN RETUNING: BLENDING . .NO CHARGE

  As part of an independent study course,Ed Peters,  Master Tuner, is conducting an introductory retuning(blending) course at York university in Toronto. This course is geared to Teachers, Steelband Leaders and Directors. It is intended to allow participants to gain the knowledge to do minor retuning until the services of a  master tuner can be secured. Participants will be schooled in a scholarly setting and would be expected to complete  and submit a short paper on their experiences

Classes are held on Thursdays evenings from 6 to 9 pm. A Saturday or Sunday session is being negotiated also.

  • Master tuners in T&T should take note.  Initiatives such as this contribute to the advancement steelband movement. 

    I am not aware of the tuning ability of Mr. Peters but, if he considers himself a "master tuner" he must have some ability in the panmaking area. But more importantly, he is sharing his knowledge in a positive manner, beneficial to steelbands in Toronto. Kiudos Ed Peters!

    • Mr Ajuamu Nyomba...I do have over 53 years experience in the Pan tuning field. I also have over 30 years as an educator. From 1979 to present I spent a considerable amount of time exploring the science of the instrument. I have worked with several bands in Trinidad . A little investigative work would avail you of answers to your queries of my claim of being a Master tuner. Of course you may have to first secure a definition of what constitute a "Master Tuner".
