Minister of Community Development, Culture and the Arts, Dr The Honourable Nyan Gadsby-Dolly attended the National Single Pan Finals at the Arima Tennis Court on Sunday January 29, 2017.

It was a night of nostalgia, as 21 bands competed for the title, playing calypso and soca classics including: “Get Something and Wave” by Superblue, which was the tune of choice for National Single Pan champions, Newtown Playboys.   The rendition was arranged by Carlon Harewood.

Placing second was: San Juan All Stars playing “Johnny” by Colleen Ella, while Woodbrook Playboys came in third with their rendition of Duke’s “Total Disorder.”

The Honourable Minister will continue her visits to panyards with stops in the north and east regions (large conventional bands) this week.  These form part of her commitment and support in facilitating the development and promotion of calypso, steel pan, mas and all indigenous art forms in Trinidad and Tobago.
