UND Day of Percussion
Teague, an Associate Professor of Music at Northern Illinois, not only demonstrated his amazing talent with the crowd, but he went into great detail into the art of crafting a steel pan drum and the culture thatsurrounds it.
Teague showed instructional videos on how steel pan drums are created. The amount of craft that goes into the creation of a steel drum is quite impressive, given that from a distance it looks like nothing more than a pot, but when played professionally, it can sound like a well played xylophone.
Teague showed off his sense of humor, admitting to the crowd that sometimes people ask him if he is even really playing his instrument, since his hands are always hidden inside the drum.
