Everything Related to the Steelpan Instrument and Music

The Pan World lost one of its iconic figures at 4:00 a.m this morning.  David (QRC) was one of the "College Boys" who contributed to the greater social acceptance of pan in Trinidad and Tobago in the 1950's and beyond.  He played second pan with Invaders, Starlift and then his own Third World.  When he ended his playing days, he served as a Panorama commentator and judge at home and abroad.  Condolences to his family, and may eternal rest be his.

This is very sad.

I didn't know David personally but I enjoyed his insightful and knowledgeable Panorama commentary.

I've always thought that he was one of the best ever at it.

My condolences go out to his family, friends and loved ones.

My sentiments exactly, Glenroy. I enjoyed his comments and wondered why he was not at the forefront over the past 10 years. Condolences to friends and family of the late Mr. David Waddle on behalf of Desperadoes Steel Orchestra.

May he rest in peace and my condolences to his family.  He was a kind and generous man.

I hate to say, "me too", but Glenroy has expressed my sentiments exactly.

I will miss his astute and always fair-minded commentary.

My condolences to the family also, may he rest in peace.

My condolences go out to the family and friends and the steelband fraternity on the passing of David Waddell. I always enjoyed the music of Third World, not to mention his knowledgeable comments at Stellband Panorama

May his soul rest in peace!

Condolences to Splav's family, David was a gentleman.

David was very helpful to many bands and arrangers.I remember his insightful comments/hints/suggestions about a few panorama tunes.

David you would be missed by all whom you have touched.

Condolences to family and friends.

Fond farewell..!

Slav Waddell from the Shell Invaders , the Angostura & CIBC Starlift & the National Lottery Third World is gone.

David will always be one of my enduring memories of Starlift back in the 65 and 66 when he tried to teach me how to play double seconds. Needless to say, I did not pass muster but swiftly moved to double guitars as it was not as demanding.

May he rest in peace and never be forgotten.
