DE RED BOYZ (Mikey Hulsmeier -- Barbados; and Scott Galt -- Trinidad) have worked with a diverse group of artistes to make and produce outstanding music for a combined 47 years. Galt was once a session guitarist and Hulsmeier a drummer. The two met up while Hulsmeier was a member of a group called Splashband and Galt was a regular visitor to the band’s rehearsal studio. They finally got to work together as part of the reggae jazz band led by Arturo Tappin, a well-known Barbados saxophonist.

However, these super-talented producers have seen themselves gravitating towards TRINIDAD SOCA for years now.

"What has really sustained us over the years is more carnival music, Trinidadian soca . . .  I think their love [Trinidadians] for melody is very strong and plays right into our hands," explained Hulsmeier.

His work partner expressed a similar sentiment while revealing their upcoming plans. "We believe a lot of the work is going to go down to Trinidad because after producing for carnival for so many years we kind of have an idea of what TRINIS like.”

Working with well-known artistes might be no coincidence. Scott Galt said that they were known for being hard-working and that attracts those who are serious about music. People in the industry know that DE Red Boyz don't play when it comes to producing quality music.

And so does FARMER NAPPY who has been working with the DE RED BOYZ  for 13 years. But this year DEY DONE GONE AND DID IT – producing one of the SWEETEST SOCA SONGS (HOOKIN MEH) in the history of the genre.

The song sits on the producing duo De Red Boyz’s Purple Heart riddim. The riddim features Farmer Nappy’s "Hookin Meh" and fellow soca artiste Nadia Batson’s "So Long" -- Batson wrote both songs.

DE RED BOYZ -- the musical tag team of Mikey Hulsmeier and Scott Galt -- has received affirmation and respect from Soca Lovers and industry professionals globally and their productions have received mass rotation on the airwaves as well as on online Caribbean media.

Don’t talk about THIS YEAR (2019) with HOOKIN MEH crashing the AIRWAVES, PARTIES, SCHOOLYARDS and PANORAMA in THE MECCA OF THE SOCA!!!
