I am wondering if both interviews actually took place. Or maybe the one with SMOOTH was real and the one with PEPE was conjecture. It would clarify things a lot if Mr.Pepe Francis would come on the forum and say: "I never did that interview with Sharmain Baboolal."
And where are the NEW VISIONARIES?

Claude....Ah have a feeling we are all of an age,or most of us in this box. anyway, God is good we have made it this far,
Allyuh , give de man a break nah.
Allyuh know how we old people does forget , especially when we smoke a lil ganga.
It does happen to plenty ah we..
Long time we used to call it "dotish" but now ah hear is a disease called "Oletimers" , or someting like dat :)
Bebe...you make me laugh..i agree with you.. how old is this Mr. francis? if he is over 70 , he has a legal reason to foget it happened
Jean; Yuh laughing at all the old people. But after your comments on SHARMAIN ah know yuh eh dat young yuhself. Your DESPERS are back up the HILL ... all praises to JAH!!!
Hey CLAUDE MI' AMIGO; WHAT DIS " FRANCIS" HAS DONE 4 PAN, IS HE A TUNER/INVENTOR or ARRANGER ???
Juan.....Whatever one may think of Pepe,he has successfully done what many have never had a failure at doing.
I am sure he had many failures as he has had many successes in the Pan/Steelband world. He has worked long and hard in the vineyard, and deserves some respect for his hard work, love and devotion for Pan and Steelband.
We must never trivialize or disregard the inputs of the many living and departed who work tirelessly to ensure that the works of Tuners/inventors and Arrangers are heard and appreciated......which makes whatever the Fans ( this group is of utmost importance) have DONE, a crucial part of Pan/Steelband epic journey.
All in Pan Bro.....All in Steelband!
Oswald: Like yuh doh DRINK and SMOKE or what? Yuh always S-O-B-E-R!!!
Except when yuh call TAMBU a great VOCALIST ... LOL!!!
Claude yuh hah to be like ah DRINKER who SMOKES,or a SMOKER who DRINKS to be in the Steelband bizness.....this eh ah easy task and it have little financial gains .....Ah keep saying, when all the fanfare done, many of those who found the resources to pay the TUNER/INVENTOR and ARRANGER high remunerations, cyar even buy ah snowball without ice.....
So my friend yuh may be quite correct.
oswald,
Those that you spoke off are the REAL HEROES and SHEROES of the steelband movement.

Small Band (60 players)
57 bands competed ---- 10 in Final.....
$400,000 1st
$350,000 2nd
$300,000 3rd
4th - 10th - $100.000
10% of Prize to PT
--------------------------
Expenses (60 players)
Arranger = $30,000
Tuner/s = $ 30,000
20 contracted players = 500 x 3 rounds = $ 30,000
Drummer = 4000 x 3 rounds = 12,000
39 players = GROTT $1000.00 checks + ????
Transport,refreshments,paint,T-Shirts and etc = 20,000
Very conservative Approx Expenditure = $122,000
Lets say band came 10th and receives $100,000 - PT 10% = $ 90,000
Profit from venture: - $32,000 = snowcone without ice.
47 bands eh even get this far.
Many have never failed at this task, because they have never TRIED......probably they are just wiser than those who do it,year after year after year.
