Well ah RADIO HOST in TRINIDAD made a statement that "CARNIVAL IS ABOUT WOMAN" implying to some that the TOBAGO CARNIVAL just cannot be about "BLACK TOBAGO WOMAN" so they will have to import some "NICE WOMEN" from Trinidad and elsewhere for the TOBAGO CARNIVAL to fly.
Radio host Kwesi 'Hoppy' Hopkinson said he was confused by criticisms of his comments made on air while discussing Tobago Carnival earlier this week, saying in no way were his comments about race.
Speaking to LoopTT, Hopkinson said that his comment ‘Carnival is woman’, simply referred to the nature of Carnival as a festival where many women are found and was not referring to race.
“Honestly I don’t know why it went in that direction because all we meant to say was ‘Carnival is woman’…all I was trying to say is that we need to get lots of women over there to make a Tobago Carnival successful. If you have a problem getting to Tobago, how would we do it? That’s my take on it.”
