So after the FIRST YEAR IN OFFICE, these are the HIGHLIGHTS (POSITIVE ACCOMPLISHMENTS) of the BEVERLEY-LED EXECUTIVE that I want to present to the 20,000 members of WHEN STEEL TALKS!!!
BEVERLEY RAMSEY-MOORE and MARCUS ASH did ALL THIS in ONE YEAR!!!
1 Paid 6 months outstanding rent to Amar of $276,827.00.
2. Paid Ticket Gateway who came with a Marshall of the Court for assets.
3. Paid 12.1 million prize money for conventional bands after eight months.
4. Paid 2018 Junior panorama prizes and expenses $355,000.00.
5. Paid staff salaries outstanding for five months June to October.
6. Panvesco was paid $500,000.00 from which bands meeting the requirements can obtain loans.
7 Donations / support to member bands to assist with proven fund raisers /projects $200,000.00.
8. Assistance to Northern and Eastern regions for 123 plus (20.00 entrance fee) and Pan for the people (free to the public ) in respective PANYARDS where these were held, giving them the opportunity to sell food, drinks Tee Shirts, Et cetera.
9. $10,000.00 to assist Companions Sports (a Brainchild of EXODUS) where all steelbands in Trinidad & Tobago would have PRELIMS at various PANYARDS (including other activities: all fours,football, table tennis, and the like) leading up to a GRAND FINAL -- after which there was a HUGE GALA CLOSING CEREMONY at Macoya Park ... A VENUE which has definitely been outgrown.
10 Steelband Month (August 2019) saw a BUNDLE OF ACTIVITIES -- across THE NATION!!!.
Considering what they INHERITED IN 2018, I think they WILL DO CONSIDERABLY BETTER for 2020 -- especially if the NEW PANORAMA ARRANGEMENTS WORK OUT as PLANNED.
Pan people (from NEW YORK to TORONTO to LONDON to PORT-OF-SPAIN to SAN FERNANDO to PAN TRIVIA to WHEN STEEL TALKS) all seem to have some measure of confidence in THIS EXECUTIVE ... Considerably more than THE PREVIOUS KEITH DIAZ and RICHARD FORTEAU EXECUTIVE!!!. Of course, there will always be a cadre of critics -- but they are always welcome to come INTO THE TENT, PAN PROGRESS and PROSPERITY IN PAN being THE PRIMARY MISSION!!!
So LET US support THE PANORAMA 2020 effort TO THE MAX because the SUCCESS of THIS EXECUTIVE is HEAVILY TIED to the MASSIVE EFFORT that is being put into PANORAMA 2020 and YOUR SUPPORT!!!
