Tobago Carnival, and its management by the National Carnival Commission (NCC).
The question, put by Wendell Stephen on the “Power Breakfast Show” on Power102fm, asked as to the presumed difficulties which now exist over the fact that there appears to be a power struggle at the top of the NCC, with three so-named Special Interest Groups operating their own power centres, as part of the NCC board.
The minister merely restated what is already well known. This is that the NCC Act of 1991, was significantly altered by a Cabinet note of 1998, giving the three Special Interest Groups—Pan Trinbago, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians Organisation (TUCO) and the National Carnival Bands Association (NCBA)—unimpeachable power to run their own affairs.
