Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - A member of the White Oak Starlift Steel Orchestra is claiming the band did not make it into the Panorama finals because they were set-up by their drummer last Sunday at the semi-finals.
Delano Arthur Seale, a member of the band for the past 51 years, said the drummer who they hired and paid did not show-up for the large band competition at the Queen’s Park Savannah, Port-of-Spain.
He said the drummer worked with the band each time for practice and played until the wee hours of the morning the day before the competition.

I can't say if it's the drummers' fault. Maybe it is maybe it isn't but saying Starlift will not be in the panorama finals for the first time in four years is not true. If my memory serves, Starlift did not make the finals last year. Wasn't 2013 a part of 'the last four years?' Don't get me wrong...ever since 'du du yemi' in 1978 panorama I like Starlift but since that they fall back bad! The truth is the truth! I will keep waiting, hopefully not too long, until they return to the Starlift I always knew although I actually play for and support INVADERS.
cecil, i was kidding,I was born in Woodbrook, Starlift was the band that made me want to learn to play pan, it seems that the drummer is the reason they not in the semis, maybe its money, or Chicken out.
Before making accusations find out just what happened.especially as he practiced 'till the next day. So too with Silver Stars
drummer Mohammed, Liam brought his own drummer to replace him after he spent the better part of a month with the band.
Mohammed said he didn't mind the replacement when Liam asked him.

Sorry to here what happened but there is a very good drummer who worked with the band when A. Hadeed arranged for them some years ago his name is Joel Marcelle he would not have done that

That's a job for ah badjohn, StarLift never had badjohns, in 1971 carnival Tuesday nite berdis and some of his boys mash up we pans Ray went home and wrote PAN ON THE RUN that's the type of people StarLift has.
