In a fire in at the Noodweg, Loosdrecht premises that housed the uniforms and musical instruments of the Dutch Police Orchestra, all was lost.  Police suspect that arson was the cause of the fire.  The Wednesday January 4, 2012 blaze completely destroyed everything.  The Steelband is therefore unable to fulfill performance commitments at this time.

Band management is actively addressing the orchestra's current dilemma and how to move forward.  It is not a matter of simply replacing instruments, they say, because they are not available in the Netherlands. Most instruments have previously been manufactured especially for the band in Trinidad and in Britain.

Fortunately there were no injuries from the fire.
