Three Eastern percussion students traveled to Trinidad in the Caribbean Islands to compete in an annual steel band competition called Panorama.

D’ante McNeal, 23, a music industry senior from Dayton, Ohio; Chistopher Cardaci, 32, a graduate student from New Bedford, Massachusetts; and Zac Cordle, 19, a music education freshman from Trion, Georgia, traveled to Trinidad on Saturday, Jan. 24 for 11 days.

The competition hosts steel bands from the towns of Trinidad and Tobago. Jason Koontz, the director of Eastern’s percussion studies accompanied the students to the Panorama competition. McNeal said Koontz knew someone in a steel orchestra in Trinidad called Birdsong.
