THE Road March title should go to the song most played on the road and not the one played most often on stage and at mas judging points.
This was the tenor of a statement yesterday on the official Instagram page of Kees Dieffenthaller's band Kes, which at the time this story was written, had already garnered over 12,000 reactions.
Too bad Savannah Grass did not win. It might of changed in the dumbing down of the people through the Road March. It started in 1991 with Super Blue's "Get Something and Wave". The music has never really recovered. Machel Montono is the biggest offender in the history of Trinidad & Tobago.
Agree with that statement 100% Calypso Road March has gone through a death sentence since then. This kind of calypso today is more noise than music, Savannah Grass was a much better piece of music than Marshall Montano's piece. It was a piece of JUNK, JUNK, JUNK...Not Music just noise. The song was played 346 times at judging points, ahead of Kees Dieffenthaller’s Savannah Grass, which was played 207 times, the Trinbago Unified Calypsonians’ Organisation (TUCO) announced.
This is Montano’s tenth Road March title and Bunji's first. It is also the first time the coveted Carnival title is being shared with a non-national, as Skinny Fabulous is Vincentian. Montano now ties with SuperBlue, with ten titles. The late Aldwyn “Kitchener” Roberts holds the record with 11.
Does anyone know what was the total number of band that crossed all of the judging stations in all off Trinidad & Tobago during the 2days of Trinidad Carnival 2019?
