Former Pan Trinbago VP calls for removal of executive

BY: Laura Dowrich-Phillips --  Loop Magazine

“A move must be made by the general membership to remove them from office, install an interim executive to run the business of the organisation from now until October next year. Serious reform must take place, and next year there should be fresh elections with the proper people to run the organization,” he told Loop.

Serrette said the contention between him and the board began two years ago when he became concerned about decisions and actions taken by President Keith Diaz that was not brought to the attention of the central executive.

Among his issues was the money derived from the Panorama Greens in 2014, which he said was the most successful to date.

Serrette, who said the Greens was his idea and responsibility, said the event brought in around $5.8 million and cost just over $3 million

Hopefully, this time all things will fall into place to make sure change-of-direction will happen.

Where is the voice of the "Malcolm X of the Steelband Movement" when he is needed???

  • In his resignation letter to the Executive, Serrette said:

“I have had cause to do some investigation in aspects of our operations. This became necessary because of a patent lack of communication and information at the central executive. What I have unearthed is a trail of questionable financial transactions and a large and growing debt."

“These findings, together with the intentional disregard that was shown to my efforts at addressing and correcting our dysfunction, as submitted in my presentation at the Central Executive Retreat on June 19, 2016, leave me with no other option but to remove myself from this administration of Pan Trinbago.”

Is it only me who thinks Mr. Serrette plans to run for President of Pan Trinbago at the next elections.
