  • My sympathy goes out to the family of Michael (Birde} King, God's Willing I'll be attending the service on Wednesday. Birde was his nick name and that's what everyone called him, We go way back from 1963 we were members of West Symphony Steel Orchestra aka BWIA Sun Jets. We both migrated to the U.S. around the same time and Joined the U.S. Army in February 1970 and we was sent to Viet Nam. We both did our tour of duty and returned home safely. I believe we were the only two Vets of the Group that migrated and that's probably the whole band. He was great guy and a very good pan player may he rest in Peace.

    • It is heart warming to hear from someone that knew Birdie as you did. Only a few people knew the history you express.  He was also a life long member, Vice Captain then Captain of the Trinidad & Tobago Steelband of Washington, DC for quite a number of years.   He was a man when he called you a friend you can count on him, he had your back.    Prayers and condlences go out to his children and family.  He will be missed.

  • Condolences go out to the King family. May his soul rest in peace.

  • Condolences to the King family RIP

  • Rip, you have been a good friend.
