Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Steelbands will have two events in which to display their musical skills come Carnival Monday evening. One is the second edition of the Groovy Soca Steelband Competition in all Pan Trinbago Regions and the other, Health & Fitness Chip in the capital, Port-of-Spain.

The Groovy Soca Steelband Competition is open to all financial members of Pan Trinbago and will see participating steelbands perform any groovy soca composition. Bands are required to play the tune on the move for approximately four to six minutes.

  • Bede I will take the chip for you, not sure I could handle the wine, lol

  • What really started at Colville and Tragerete Rd. was the Fitness Chip then they go along Tragarete Rd to Pole Carew St, before Roxy roundabout then head south to Ariapita avenue, turn east to play at Adam Smith square and then continue to Victoria square by Pan Trinbago's office for the Groovy.I can't say how many bands will participate in the Groovy, but the person running it said it started well.

    • Gerard, Since I am not in Trinidad take ah Chip on the side for me tonite and ah Wine on the side Tomorrow nite, thks

      • Someone just told me that Kamla was playing next to Boogsie.

        • Cecil, I saw that on facebook, I ask if she was in all stars last year,

  • It started reasonably well. I was at Colville and Tragarete Rd. from 6pm,and there were mas bands with trucks flowing. The first steelband was there very early (Pan Elders) and they assembled by 5.55 and got going, Cordettes and Arima Golden Symphony followed and Invaders, then there were scanty arrivals, with some not having the compliment of players.I left at 8pm so hopefully it would have picked up and run smoothly.

    • Birdsong could win this?

  • This Groovy Soca Steelband Competition is the real deal! ... I just wish I could be there.
