Happy Kwanza from San City to T & T.

A founding member of San City, Mr Anthony De Caires, in colabration with San City Steel Symphony, successfully hosted, on the 1stof January, his 46thKwanza/toy distribution. Mr. De Caires single-handedly started on the 1st of January, 1973 sharing toys to the community and promoting African consciousness among members of the community of Ste Madeleine. All in an effort to move his community from financial, social and mental ignorance. Using his family’s savings on many occasions to ensure its success, Mr De Caires is today, 46 years after, still at the helm of this event. I am calling for the powers that be to give him a national award whilst he is alive for his contribution towards the people of our nation.

San City Steel Symphony, a child of San Fernando City Corporation, where Mr De Caires worked, was formed in 1990 when San Fernando became a city. The band has been partnering with Mr De Caires for the past 29 years. This information is important to share as steel bands have been continuously painted in a bad light such as when back in the day, players were known as bad johns and now as a group of hustlers. There is extreme social potential in the many steel bands all over Trinidad and Tobago and San City is a prime example of that.

As Mr De Caires and San City prepare for 2020, we would like to invite any corporate or public organization that wishes to partner with us please contact Mr De Caires at 488 5300. The both organizations would also like to thank Mr. Keith Khan’s bookstore located at Navet Road for his assistance through many years of support.

Happy kwanza everyone
