Heather MacIntosh - Headquarters

"The Headquarters" (2016) written by Shortpant and arranged by Pelham Goddard. Took Heather to the savannah and the national finals.

History: it was alleged that the UNC government gave to Pan Trinbago (Keith Diaz) the sum of $15 million. This money was used to stage the International Conference on Pan (2015). This was a "one-off" event.

Some felt that this money could have been used to complete the Pan Trinbago Headquarters on the highway at Trincity.

Diaz never denied receiving the money from the government. In an interview on i95.5 radio after the 2016 Carnival; he claimed that the sum he receive was $13 million.

  • I was in TNT for carnival years ago, when Maria Bohla  sang on Keith Diaz, why is this man still in office? nobody has anything positive to say  about him, is this a lifetime position?

  • Allyuh put up ah REAL COMPLEX TOPIC here, boy!!! Ah doh know if to look backward or forward. When ROWLEY came into office he said that he doh want NO HEADQUARTERS in no CANE FIELD. He going and build ah BRAND NEW HEADQUARTERS in TOWN. But PAN TRINBAGO does not need a HEADQUARTERS as much as it needs a  CULTURAL EVENTS CENTER; that would be a better investment with money coming in all year round. (If yuh could stop all the TIEFING.)

Allyuh forcing me to go and listen to this calypso one more time and I eh too big on listening to the nasal and "throatal" strains that does be coming out of dem female calypso singers down in Trinidad.

And ah thought this was PANORAMA WEEK and all the "SO LOVE THE PAN" disciples would be discussing PAN AND MORE PAN. But I could talk about CALYPSO all day long and my most favorite topic on this forum (as everybody know) is THE RIGHT HONOURABLE KEITH DIAZ. Speaking of which: Look how KEITH DIAZ have DOCTOR DOLLY and COLIN LUCAS under this thumb like two little school children, eh.

  • If Keith Diaz submitted a budget  to the government of the day for an International Panorama, wouldn't it have been misappropriation of public funds to use that money for anything else?

How many Panmen does this forum believe objected to the staging of The International Panorama in 2015?

How many Panmen does this forum suspect can now raise their voices is agreement with the sentiments expressed in this calypso?

Based on the following Trinidad Guardian article by Peter Ray Blood, is it reasonable to conclude that the steelband fraternity was solidly behind Keith Diaz in this venture?

The first international Panorama competition at the Queen’s Park Sa...

    1. "One of the positives to enhance the International Panorama is local steel orchestras opening their “homes” (panyards) to the visitors and making them feel welcome. Aside from allowing the visitors to practice in their panyards, the local pan musicians have also been taking their guests around and many of them were seen at last Sunday’s Laventille Emancipation Steelband Festival & Parade."
    2. "Plans to have an eastern steelband play host to the Brooklyn Steel Orchestra fell through and at short notice Junia Regrello made the Skiffle Steel panyard on Coffee Street, San Fernando available."
    3. "Pan Trinbago Allan “Pablo” Augustus and his musicians at Valley Harps in Petit Valley have taken the members of England’s Ebony Steelband under their wings."
    4. "Nestor Sullivan and Pamberi have done likewise for the members of Calypsociation of France."

Isn't it ironic that in Peter Blood's article an embattled serving Pan Trinbago executive officer and principal of Valley Harps is sandwiched between a principal of The Big 5+2, Skiffle, as I choose to describe them, and a principal of Pamberi apparently quite agreeably?

I would be inclined to describe this composition as just another "Witty Ditty"!
