How can we make carnival the MAIN EVENT for the steelband as it once was?
How can we get it out of some peoples mind that carnival is not a SIDE SHOW for the steelband?
How can we get the steelband off the float and rolling again?
How can we get it out of those peoples mind that says that was the past?
How can we make others see that the steelband is owed a slice of the carnival pie?
How can we get respect for the steelband?
We want to build pan factories, we teach pan in schools, thus producing players by the hundreds, are we doing all this to play eight minutes of music on a stage once a year?
THERE MUST BE MORE TO THE STEELBAND.......

Patrick, there were many posts on this and it was mentioned(can't remember by whom) that pan should revert to racks with pushers which made me oppose that idea.
Yes I do agree with you , pan pushers are a thing of the past. Many who were around in the 60's thru the 80's will tell you that the bands sounded best on the road. This is where we need new inventions, to get pan closer to the people. Trinis were definitely not the first to put pan on truck. This idea was the norm in developed countries to get pan off the road quickly before 4:00pm or 6:00pm, the time given to end celebrations. Trinis copied it, without thinking. Today mas bands take over, they got more trucks, bigger trucks, their music is NOT hampered by truck noise, and if the truck man pick up the tempo, the masquerader can easily move a little faster, not so with pan. Pan people need new innovations. It can be done.
All I am calmly saying is that PHI and E instrument eh replacing nutten . I have no problem with who feel so, as this is supposed to be a forum for opinions but it's now regularly filled with views that are very obstinate. Some people feel that tuners are afraid that this will take away their "wuk." How many of you really know the global acoustical pan market?. Do the research,even if people gravitate to PHI and E it will not even cause a dent and a lot more could be said on this but I'm leaving it there and will continue to read what the "dreamers" are writing.
What the steelbands have to be aware off is as we speak there is the technology to replace them on the road so they better bring their A game, the clock is ticking.
Cecil sometimes with all that new technology that thing call "back to the future" does really kick in hard. For example all these digital clocks with old fashion ring-tones. The more I listen to you and Glenroy the more it starting to make sense. Just look at mess all these leaders made of Carnival 2014 - Tuco, Pan Trinbago, NCC, NCBA, Ministry of that and Ministry of this.
Only thing that makes sense is good ole fashion pan.

Oswald I am remembering a line from a Sparrow calypso when he refused to sing in the savannah " WHO WANT TO GO COULD GO UP DEY, BUT I EH GOIN NO WEY" similarly with the rack thing is " WHO WANT TO GO COULD GO BACK DEY, BUT WE EH GOING BACK DEY" Cecil Boy you have to get like Sampson to pull all dem rack! Gerard no one is talking about pushing pans, at this point if the steelband man don't put up a fight the PHI man and the Epan man could step in and that could be the end of the road.
