  merrytones, ah lookin out for you this year, yuh tell meh ah only listen to large bands so ah trying to listen to all bands this year. I find single pan bands have to much front line pans, they should balance the 30 players better.

    The big problem with this year's Single Pan competition is the absence of a Semi Final round...it can't be fair to have 67 bands in a prelim and pick twenty for a final...we have good music...as usual...but the nature of the competition leaves me discouraged...but once my "People" happy with the music I happy too...Merry Tones will be dynamite...trust meh...

      67 Single Pan bands in the prelim and man coming on this forum and saying that PAN IS DYING in Trinidad.
      
      And in the interest of integrity and transparency, we would like you to declare how many CRACK SHOTS you have in your band!!!

I am with you Earl Richards (as I was with you on your Jan 9th post),

Is there another competition where a person can play on more than one team?

Panorama is funded by the government. Is this the best use of tax payers' dollars?

Are there not other priorities to which these funds could be applied, so that pan players in general could benefit (such as music literacy classes), or allocated to the advancement of the art form itself (e.g., R&D)?

Good one,,,Hustle is Hustle,,,if you can really do the job well,,,,there are quite a few Panist that can do the job well,,,,but there are also a few pretenders who after learning their main band's song,,,go to other bands and give them a half way production. They may get certain parts downpat,and skate through the rest. Captain's need to stand up and listen to hired Panist to make sure they have the whole song down. I personally think that if a Panist has the ability to learn four or five WHOLE Panorama songs,he should be paid for his or her ,outstanding talent,,,,because that in not an average feat,,,You have got to be very musically inclined, and talented to play four,or five WHOLE Panorama songs. Even three. Blessings.

  In the early years of the steelbands and not so long ago in panorama that was never allowed to happen, Playing for rival bands in the same year and in the same competition was a no no. I remember players leaving one band to play in another band and the captain and a few members will come and retrieve those players and take them back to their original pan yard. that was considered as betrayal and disloyalty. This is a different time we are living in now and if the management's of steelbands see no problem with players hustling for Panorama, Whom am I to complain. BLESSINGS.
