Now, i never listened to COUVA JOYLANDERS, nor will I ever listen to that WINNING COMPOSITION. Because although I dabbled on a personal basis with DE FOSTO and some of his CALYSPO LYRICS in BROOKLYN in the 80's when I was hooked up with GEORGE VICTORY (RIP) -- I have never liked DE FOSTOS MUSIC.
So the song that JOYLANDERS played -- i don't know it. And I will never listen to the original version or their version. So I don't know if they really win or not.
But I like the DRAMA of the results. And I like the fact that PAN EXPERTS like bugs and patrick and odw and Cecil and Earl Richards and merrytonestothebone and all the other PAN EXPERTS on THIS FORUM -- never saw it coming.
MERCER RAMDOO only picked that band because of the SOUTH OF CARONI TING. I don't think that he really believed in that music.
The truth is that i expected a TOBAGO BAND TO WIN given the politics -- which would have been fair to me. But I got BLIND-SIDED by this shocking result and at the same time it felt like it washed away some corruption sins from PAN TRINBAGO.
So on to the THE LARGE BAND FINALS and although I was projecting DUVONE a winner for the last few weeks -- I am going to be MORE AGGRESSIVE and DEMANDING of a THREE IN A ROW for him because he showed some real magnanimity today when he defended me against KENNY PHILLIPS.
I have been on edge for a while because I felt like a traitor criticizing DUVONE MUSIC and I long wondered about his view of me. But today he surprised me because he took it all in stride.
I will give you all a little hint!!! I met both KENNY PHILLIPS and DUVONE STEWART when they were climbing the ladder to success and I bonded with both of them. So for them to see me expressing any opinion about them that was NOT FLATTERING -- I am sure that they would see that as HYPOCRITICAL.
But I have to be true to MY LOVE AND APPRECIATION and EXPECTATION of the culture. And if I lose some friends along the way -- SO BE IT!!!
But DUVONE is a REAL BIG MAN and he READ ME RIGHT.
So I am going all out in the next week to SUPPORT THE MAN in his quest for his HAT TRICK!!!

I love the culture too, man. But just in a more independently-minded way!!! I ain't NO SHEEP!!!
