JJJ: You are just so loaded with facts and names. A word of caution when you write your book: Spread the names out and spread the stories out -- give the reader a little space to absorb the content.
But ah eh see yuh call ELLIE MANNETTE name anywhere in your passages. The first 55 gallon PAN was tuned and designed by a man from TACARIGUA/TUNAPUNA (convex). And everybody laugh at the man and say whey yuh going with that BIG HEAVY OIL DRUM. When Ellie Mannette saw it he jumped on the BAND WAGON and went CONCAVE stealing all the ACCLAIM and ending up in the HISTORY BOOKS as the INVENTOR.

NO NO NO, pan was being concave since 1936, when you beat a tin pan in those days what happens ?? it sinks in, the material was thin almost like paper that even if you press on it it sinks in, and dat Ellie story is also bullshit, 1st things 1st, that drum was a biscuit drum called the "Barracuda", in1950, the 55 gallon drum was out there since May of 1945, and Ellie did not start playing and tuning pan until his nephew Herman Gomez, his sister Ruby son, his brother Ossie, and Birdie who had formed "Oval Boys" in 1946, who change their name to Night Invaders and later Invaders, and Herman left Oval Boys because he didn't wanna be around Ellie, as Ellie was a trouble maker always fighting etc, so he left and late with Selwyn Griffith , Beverly Griffith older brother started "Star Land" on St Vincent Street, Ellie never invented anything, and that pan youe speaking of was made by Carlton (sonny/sire) Roach, who also made a tenor pan for Andrew pan De labistde, who sold it to "spree" Simon for 24 cents a shilling in those days. Ellie did not create or invent anything nor, did the guy from Tacarigua, I forgot his name, I'll tell U when I remember it, his mom name was Ms Mabel, again Ellie , Spree, Jules, Bertie, did not invent anything etc etc, pan has two inventors, an inventor is someone who does something for the VERY FIRST TIME, the others R innovators ...
I met a fellah named JESSIE in Brooklyn and he was one of the first of a few brothers to bring PAN to Harlem. If the two of you got together and organized your facts -- you could have a real good book.

Mi Amigo, I'm gonna say this for the last time, so put this in your pipe and smoke it, the 1st 55 gallon drum was tuned in May 1945, after World War II ended by one Kelvin Morris, and one Anthony Williams 14 years old at the time him being born June 1931, to Carmen Roberts and Oscar Williams,in 1946 Carlton (sonny / sire) Roach tuned his first ping pong and the 1st strumming pan called the strummer in those days, after the 1946 Carnival, to prepare for the first Island Wide Music Festival, Sun valley Won playing "Home Sweet Home" arranged by "bajan" Cecil Ward, in 1947 Casablanca won, that same year "Red Army" was the 1st steel band to tour the Caribbean in 1948, "Hell's ah Poppin",, Tokyo won in1949, Invaders won in 1950 with "Its Magic", Tripoli, Syncopators, etc etc etc, and in 1955 the one last was won by North Stars who Played "Skokian and Valarie", so all this Antigua this and dat is pure "Bullshit" or lies, and in 1963 when Pan Am North Stars toured the Caribbean when we was in Antigua, this fella Jardine, the top tenor pan player from "Hell's Gate", at the time brought his pan to show off his playing skills, and the other guys in our band call me, they say dat this guy want too show U how to play your pan, and they were laughing, they say "pedrito" , the name I just got in "Puerto Rico", while we were there, they say bring your tenor " pedrito", after he finished playing, I started playing "Chopin Nocturn in Eb" before I finished playing, he Jardine started walking away with his pan, so mi amigo, all what they're saying in Antigua is just dat , talk, LIES LIES LIES, PROPAGANDIST, POLITICKING, call it what you want,to me it's just bull shit lies, no one outside of Trinida'd &Tobag'o, can make or play a steel pan musical instrument better than us, off course I'm prejudice, because there's NOTHING BETTER than us because, DAN IS THE MAN ON THE PAN, this IS Trinidad and Tobago the land of the PAN, mi amigo, and NOT FANTASY ISLAND...
