So I would like to offer my ideas on some of the initial functions this appointee should address.
When you consider the number of STEELBANDS across TRINIDAD and TOBAGO, you immediately see a geographic constraint by hiring someone who lives in Tobago. And this is not a cut on Tobago because I would not have appointed someone from MAYARO or TOCO or LA BREA or DIEGO MARTIN for the job either.
But let me proceed with the solution to the problem rather than focusing on THE PROBLEM. Given today's technology -- the appointed officer could sit down in TOBAGO and run things. So let us keep her in the job and let us move on.
BEVERLEY now needs a team IN TRINIDAD to carry out the initial functions. And the first person who should be appointed to that team is BERTEL GITTENS -- from the NORTH-WEST. And then we need another BERTEL GITTENS in the EAST and one in the SOUTH and one in CENTRAL. So now we have a four man team working under THE LIAISON OFFICER who is going to handle TOBAGO.
Each geographic AMBASSADOR will visit all the PAN YARDS in their region and have interviews (video taped interviews) with the BANDLEADER, THE TWO DELEGATES and about SIX PAN PLAYERS from each band.
Let everything SPILL OUT -- the good, the bad and the ugly. Needs, frustrations, ambitions, limitations, financial obligations, land issues -- FULL DISCLOSURE on all fronts. And make sure that they get a list of all players from every band -- because we have to build that DATABASE OF PAN PLAYERS.
Now, after we collect all the DATA and the LIAISON OFFICER compiles it into an integrated PRESENTABLE PACKAGE -- we take it to the NET LEVEL.
That is where MR. LAWFORD DUPRES and MR. AMAR and MR. KERON VALENTINE and MR. MARTIN DALY and MR. DALTON NARINE and MR. SALAH WILSON and MR. SIMEON SANDIFORD and PROFESSOR COPELAND and MAYOR JUNIA REGRELLO and MR. AINSWORTH MOHAMMED and other WELL-PLACED PAN LOVERS across the NATION -- all come together and produce a NATIONAL PLAN FOR THE IMPROVEMENT OF PAN, PAN PLAYERS and PAN YARDS.
At the very least, right after the PANORAMA FEVER chills out in LATE MARCH, Beverley Ramsey-Moore should instruct the LIAISON OFFICER to ALL STEELBANDS to have a meeting with BERTEL GITTENS to outline a PILOT PROJECT to visit ONE STEELBAND from the NORTH and conduct that first in the series of interviews.
Something about a journey of visiting 210 STEELBANDS begins with the single step of BERTEL GITTENS conducting a single interview right in his own BACKYARD.
DITTO for the LIAISON OFFICER to ALL STEELBANDS doing likewise in TOBAGO.
