Protests and placards will do nothing. Diaz and the executive just have to ride out the storm.
If the pan players boycott Panorama it will give them an excuse.
A separate pan event might be the answer, but will all the bands agree and who will be able to get it done at this late stage, but it's worth a try if a suitable venue can be found. Maybe in the space where the North stand would be built if there was a Panorama.
The way to end this impasse though would be to take Pan Trinbago to court and force their hand
Yes a lawsuit would be good, but that does not negate or dismiss the power of a march to demonstrate and bring a light on the inner-workings-and-going-on of PT to see if the "uproar" from pan people has merit or not.
I doubt any of the labour leaders of the past, like Arthur Cipriani, Uriah "Buzz" Butler and Adrian Cola Rienzi would have scoffed at the moments in our past to come together to protest and strike out to bring meaning and progress to our historic struggles, would they?
Again, it is indeed time for a steelpan trade union apart from PT to move the interest of pan people.
I would venture a notion that a lawsuit would have had much better gravitas and/or a negotiated outcome if judged in the Industrial Court of T&T, not so?
And I risk back-chat if I also say GSG would break a wry smile in the great beyond if he saw the steelpan movement make a effort to remember our past (1979) to move we steelpan ting forward ever, backward never, ent...
The real test is not the demonstration tomorrow. The real test is not a separate event of the steelbands and especially the large 10 bands with full Panorama 100 men each. The real test is not a Panorama boycott of 2017. These are only the beginning signs of the real test. After this carnival season the real test is going to be the continuation of getting both pan players and pan bands to come together to form a new BODY. The BODY should be an International one which also incorporates foreign steelbands and pan players. The BODY should raise funds internationally through a fund raising Internet site. The BODY should be run by trained businessmen and entertainment specialist. comprising of persons who will have some experience in promotions. In order to form the BODY, not only Trinidadians but persons from around the globe. If this doesn't happen in 2017 it will be safe to say that pan will eventually fade away in T&T not necessarily foreign bands. The only way to do this is that the bands should come together after carnival. Say a two weeks rest and then start the actions. The first action is the bands must resign from being members of Pan Trinbago and especially the large bands. This is the only way to bring down Pan Trinbago. One doesn't have to have a voting meeting with Pan Trinbago to decide this. The members are resigning as members. There is no organization in the world where a member cannot resign freely. If there is its a prison or a slave den not an organization of democratic principles. With these actions only then can they attract persons and businesses who would be willing to help them. Actually government would love this idea. Governments have been hinting such ideas for Pan Trinbago. T&T Governments cannot go on taking tax payers monies which sinks into black holes that no one can find. It has to stop.
Also a local pan Union can also be formed with pan players not pan bands. Only individuals are members.I have been propagating this some 10 years since I joined WST. Any one can challenge this statement? The time is nearing for this change. Many are saying 2017 is the year of drastic changes in the world for the better.
Protesting and making demands is one thing, but Diaz ain't going nowhere unless the protesters present a legal document stating he has to. He is using the same legal team that help him bankrupt the New Visionaries.
Ah starting to believe that these PAN MEN mean business!!! I hope they don't let me down!!! If they play in PANORAMA they give back all to the power to KEITH DIAZ ... that will be heartbreak for me after I fight this man down on this forum for so many years.
Let the NCC disburse the TWENTY FIVE MILLION among the bands and forget about PANORAMA.
Claude -
Panorama or no Panorama two very good things are happening. A lot of people are being exposed for having no voice or the wrong voice when folks needed to stand up. The other thing is Rolly Polly has lost a lot of weight this week. He can easily fit into last years pants - And the Rolly Polly "Bomb Tune" not even drop yet.
Folks should be very proud of the way Boogsie, Dane, Duvone, Cary Codrington, Gregory Lindsey and others spoke at the meeting.
Serious testimony went down and they looking to the future. In fact the UN might have to move in and arrest the Prime Minister for allowing the reign of Rolly Polly terrorism and abuse to go on for so long.

People does come on this forum and cuss me for supporting KEITH DIAZ. Anyway, I think that we have KEITH by the ----. So You and Cecil and me should TAKE A BOW!!!
Ah hope ah eh celebrating at the ONE YARD LINE and then some defensive player on the KEITH DIAZ ROBBERS NFL team knock the ball out of my hand and run it back to PAN TRINBAGO and hand it to KEITH DIAZ for a TOUCHDOWN.
Ah doh know how you could write that SCRIPT with all these volcanic changes happening on a daily basis.
Panmen to march tomorrow
PAN players say they intend to take to the streets tomorrow to show their dissatisfaction with pan’s governing body, Pan Trinbago.
From noon, the players are expected to head to Pan Trinbago’s office at Park Street, opposite Victoria Square in Port-of-Spain to express their dissatisfaction with the organisation and its handling of money and other administrative issues.
Pannist Dane Gulston called a meeting, via Facebook, to discuss the way forward for Panorama following an extra ordinary meeting held on December 28. At that meeting the panmen called for a boycott of the annual Panorama competition saying, “No money, no Panorama.” At yesterday’s meeting held at Trinidad All Stars’ Steel Orchestra pan yard in Port-of-Spain, Gulston said, “I called the meeting because we had a heated discussion in our meeting last Wednesday. I called the meeting for panmen and the executive of bands to decide where we heading from now.
“It is 2017. Promises have been made for a number of time and I have just called panmen to unite really and truly.” The meeting saw a turn-out of approximately 50 panmen and women.

Panmen mull over new Panorama event
Panmen are expected to stage a placard demonstration outside Pan Trinbago office on Park Street, Port-of-Spain, tomorrow, demanding the immediate resignation president Keith Diaz and his entire executive.
And for the 2017 Carnival season, panmen may stage their own event called “Pandrome” with the support of private sponsors.
These two suggestions came out of a special meeting of pannists held at All Stars panyard in Port-of-Spain yesterday to discuss matters of concern, including the leadership of the movement and the non-payment of money owed to them for work done last year.
