  • Can anyone give an update on the number of foreign bands that's taking part.

  • ,I have to wonder why an international panorama and no elections. I have to wonder why PT after all these years have no headquarters (building), but want to be the body representing steelbands the world over. I have to wonder why would forward thinking countries like Japan and China want to be a part of n organization that does nothing to promote their own people. I have to wonder where they are getting all this money to host this event, when bands have not yet been paid for 2015 panorama. I have to wonder why if this is such a big event, no major marketing has been done to attract a paying audience. I have to wonder why no one had to foresight to arrange package deals with the major hotels and airlines.

I have wonder where they are going to accommodate all those players and their instruments, when bands from Tobago usually sleep in the savannah for panorama. I have to wonder who the men are, that actually sat around a table and came up with this wonderful event, then did nothing really to promote it, so that monies could be made. Like some of you I too wanted to be there for this event, however I may just stay where I am an wonder, since in August airfares are high and I was not given the opportunity of knowing this is a sure thing and purchase my ticket early.  I just have to wonder.

    • The price of oil is down. The economy is about ready to hit the ground. The local economists are urging the government to cut back on spending. In this climate PAN TRINBAGO goes cap in hand, always cap in hand for pan, begging the government and local corporations for THIRTY FIVE MILLION DOLLARS to produce a second PANORAMA for the year. No wonder that Ama stood in her shoes and she wondered about the marketing and the accommodations and the transportation. Earlier on when somebody pointed out the improbability of this show coming off successfully he was deemed a gossip monger spreading false rumors.

    • ama belfon, In la la land PanTrinbago can do what they want, there is no one to oppose them and no one talking on behalf of the pan people. Elections are usually held in October so we'll have to wait and see what happens. We all are in wonderland just like you.

      • Cecil,

Its not that there's no one to appose or no one talking on behalf of pan people, if you are to believe what was said by the New Visionaries interview pan men are "scared" of Pan Trinbago.

Look how they silenced the "Ghost"

Pan Trinbago Death Threat Claim Live at the Town Hall Meeting

        • odw , if there was someone seeking the interest of pan people they would have received their money, it's only in lala land these people could stage another panorama which comes with a heavy price tag and still owe pan people. As for the death threat I don't think  any of the executive of PT want to make a jail so they have hench men making idle threats. This PT fiasco plays heavily on the type of people they have in high places in T&T.

          • Cecil,

Back in the day, that was the role of the captain/manager of your steelband organization, he or she will take your case to the executive and fight for your demands. Bottom line is, there is no collective bargaining among the steelband members. Change has to start from the bottom up.

This issue will continue to repeat itself until pan people take a stand or a strong leader emerge to challenge the leadership at PT. Why is it, the band sponsors don't off their voice to their plight,  their brand name is being used to promote their products.  Do they condone this type of exploitation or are they scared of PT?

            • odw, I've been saying the same thing all along, the steelbands must come together and have a committee to face PanTrinbago. You are also correct about the sponsors, they have to do more than bank roll their steelbands.  The Minister of Culture could be helpful here also.

  • I think by now they should know how many bands are committed to take part and let people know, foreigners have to make travel arrangements and is not coming to hear 12 Trini bands and 2 from foreign. Let the public know exactly whats going on, it the right thing to do.

    • And they say, Trinidad & Tobago is the "Mecca of Pan".
