It is not just PAN MEN who get AWARDS, eh!!! FIVE CALYPSONIANS get awards also ...

THINKING ABOUT (and RESPECTING) LORD FUNNY

Ah time ah went down POMONA (Southern California) for a weekend!!!

And the fellahs and dem who invite meh pardner (who invite me and company ...) was some REAL NICE TRINIDAD FELLAHS. But what was most intriguing to me about that weekend was that dem HOSTS had the ENTIRE COLLECTION of LORD FUNNY RECORDINGS.

And they had a REAL LOUD music system and POMONA is kinda BACKWOODS so it did not have too many NEIGHBORS to DISTURB.

Now I never tell the hosts that I like CALYPSO -- but I just listening to their MUSIC SELECTION. And man (by the way, I does only listen to LYRICS ... mostly) I was MESMERIZED by the artistic wisdom and wit of LORD FUNNY. It was almost a MYSTICAL EXPERIENCE for me watching the neighboring hills of POMONA (allyuh know how it is when you visit STRANGE LANDS) and listening to CALYPSO LYRICS blasting at full volume in such a far corner of the world -- it was almost a COSMIC EXPERIENCE. (They did play some DELAMO, too. And if anybody knows about DELAMO'S contribution to CALYPSO -- he should get a medal, too. Maybe he did -- I doh know!!!)

So I am highly thrilled, today, to see LORD FUNNY being given A NATIONAL AWARD for CONTRIBUTION TO CULTURE.

But I am a little DEPRESSED on this REPUBLIC DAY because meh little sister get ah NATIONAL AWARD and I never (will never) get one!!! Is okay!!! Because they do not give out MEDALS for LOVING CALYPSO as much as I DO!!!
