In Cecil's Facebook discussion the regular comparison was made of pan mercenaries to truckers, tuners, painters alcohol merchants etc...I in turn advised that all these people were simply "service providers". A well known arranger further argued that indeed the pan hustlers we "service providers" too...I wonder if he and all the crackshots realise that the "worlds oldest professionals" were indeed "service providers" too? Is running from band to band "taking tune" there any different in principle to the "worlds oldest profession"?...
So when the OWNER of the TRUCKING COMPANY get the CONTRACT to drive THE PANS to the SAVANNAH -- does he then tell his REGULAR DRIVER: Look, you cannot drive good enough to take THOSE PANS to the SAVANNAH. I am going by another COMPETING TRUCKING COMPANY and HIRE HIS BEST DRIVER to drive MY TRUCK?
I went on to compare Panorama in principle to car racing competitions, with drivers and pit stop crews etc and enquired if pit stop techies would be allowed to with sides as the race day went on...One man quite bluntly told me "Yes they do...Wrong example"...So I as a race car driver would risk my life more than in the act of racing to allow competing pit stop crews to work on my car?...Yes?...
