AND IN SEPTEMBER, ALL TEN FINALIST PLAY THE WINNING ARRANGEMENT, AT THE OVAL; A THOUSAND PLAYERS PLAYING THE SAME PIECE OF MUSIC..
IT IS TIME TO TAKE PAN TO THE NEXT LEVEL; ALL YEAR MEANINGFUL EVENTS.

With the exception of Cavaliers in the 60s and Hatters in 1975 not 1 other south band has won Panorama.
They play music too!
This is where I think the whole thing sucks. Judges with little or no musical ability or intelligence are constantly being put in positions which show up their short comings. The categories by which performances are measured are also responsible for the content we are being served up year after year.
To reduce the jamming I would like to see the repetitious element being a deductible mark; thus forcing the arranger to come up with something different, surprising, innovative, refreshing even.
Get rid of the long drawn-out introduction everything does not have to be a symphony, or concerto. These were adopted in the early days of panorama to demonstrate not only the ability of the pannist; but it allowed the arranger to appear grander to the music loving public. Here I am, anything Mozart or Handel can do so can I.
And that was all well and good; we don't need to imitate 18th & 19th century composers. Pannists have proved they could play anything so let’s move on and take local music to a higher plain.
Do we really need to have a panorama piece lasting 8 minutes? North Stars' Mama Dis Is Mas was 4 minutes 27secs or thereabout. Cavaliers' Mas by Melody was about 4 minutes and the intro was about 25secs.
Medium band finals should be Carnival Friday night 16 bands and large band finals Carnival Saturday night 16 bands the placing should be chosen partly by musically competent judges and audience via mobiles and telephone votes hopefully world-wide (thus ensuring we who are not there get a good stream) and there should be good advertising for the event and that will generate income for all. It will also attract bigger sponsors and that in turn will generate more prize money.

THE SICKENING REPETITION --- LONG DRAWN OUT NOISE --- SOMETIMES AND OFTEN, ONE FORGETS WHAT WAS THE ORIGINAL SONG.
AND THE 'RYTHM SECTION' DOMINATES AND OVERWHELM THE RENDITION. LISTEN TO MELDA BY DESPERS FROM THE 60'S AND HEAR HOW LOW- KEY THE 'IRON' SECTION IS PLAYING ---- THAT IS HOW IT IS SUPPOSED TO BE.

THIS IS THE ONLY EVENT THAT TRINBAGONIANS RISE TO PROFESSIONAL DEVOTION; HOURS OF RELENTLESS EFFORT TOWARDS PERFECTING THEIR VARIOUS PIECES --- I LOVE IT.
THIS IS THE LEVEL OF PROFESSIONALISM THAT MUST INFILTRATE ALL ASPECT OF OUR SOCIETY; MAYBE WE CAN FINALLY TAKE A LESSON FROM THE PANMEN.

I AGREE THAT THEY HAVE CHEATED ALLSTARS MANY TIMES; BUT THEY HAVE CHEATED THE SOUTH BANDS AND EAST BANDS TOO.

BUT THIS YEAR, EXODUS PERFORMED THE BETTER RENDITION.
