Junior Panists On Show This Weekend in St. Lucia

Castries, St. Lucia, W.I. -  Junior pan groups from across the island will converge on the grounds of the National Cultural Centre on Sunday for the Junior Panorama. The event which is part of the ongoing National Arts Festival will feature eight groups.

 

Jimmy Clavier, Marketing Officer at the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) says the participants in Sunday’s programme are products of an ongoing UNESCO Schools’ Pan Project being undertaken in collaboration with the CDF.

  • Yes the young people are playing pan this weekend, But my wish is to

    have regular maybe monthly events for the youth around the Caribbean

    which would allow them to compete with one another playing pan.  This

    would promote the culture and help bring pan back into the arena of

    carnival where it is sooo absent.

    With the above we all also see young people moving away from the street and

    find a place to burn energy.   At the same time music lesson can be taught which will enable them to read music.
