'Laventille to Cuba..with Success'

talent: Young pannists from Success Laventille Secondary School (SLSS) steel orchestra, Success Stars Pan Sounds, had the opportunity to showcase their repertoire of songs for audiences in Cuba.

In August 2015, Success Stars Pan Sounds of Success Laventille Secondary School spent an exhilarating week in Cuba on a “Laventille to Cuba…..with Success” Tour.

Since its return, a warm relationship between the school's principal Hamida Baksh and His Excellency Guillermo Vasquez Moreno, Ambassador for Cuba, has evolved.

So moved was the ambassador by Success Pan Sounds playing his country's National Anthem on pan at an Evening of Appreciation after its return from Cuba, that he praised “a disciplined and organised school, a model school where teachers get full support from parents.”

This support now extends to a well organised steering committee and several sub committees, under project manager – Nicholas Cumberbatch, whose members have accepted the huge challenge of mounting an exchange cultural visit right after Carnival, from Saturday to March 14, by El Conjunto Folklórico Nacional de Cuba, a premiere internationally acclaimed Cuban Arts Company which will be the performer/educators during the visit.
