  - Colorful, charismatic and talented, the legendary Geoffrey Holder took time out of his extremely busy schedule to share a few minutes with When Steel Talks about the two steelband firsts’ for which he was solely responsible. An insight into his present commitment, rehearsing dancers of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater - for the upcoming production of his original work, The Prodigal Prince, was also forthcoming, just before he was rushed off to an hour-long rehearsal at the New York-based theater.

  • An 'artisan' is: a carpenter, plumber, mechanic, mason etc. Holder is a legendary 'artist'.

  • I applaud Mr. Holder's bold description of our Haitian brothers and sisters, and how they 'inspire' him! So often Haitians are castigated. And here's a gentleman who is not afraid of Blackness, to the point of being 'purple' but instead Geoffrey additionally remarked on how "Handsome" Hector Hyppolite was.

  • I loved hearing from Geoffrey Holder. He is one of my all time Trini heros.

    Most Americans remember him from the "Un Cola" Seven Up ads.

    Iinterestingly, he also portrayed Baron Samedi in the James Bond movie,"Live and Let Die"
