Trinidad & Tobago, W.I. - Police used batons and their fists to beat patrons during the 2012 National Panorama semifinals at the Queen's Park Savannah, Port of Spain yesterday, after hundreds of pan fans tried to push past barriers because they were blocked from walking between the North Stand and the Greens area.
Around 3.30 p.m. the access entrance to the Greens from the North Stand was blocked, preventing patrons from moving from one area to the other.
This year the Panorama event co-ordinators attempted to separate the Greens party area from the main event on the Big Stage.
This was done because of last year's problems with sound systems and DJs virtually drowning out the sound of the pan performances during the semifinal.

This is so ridiculous!!!! There are so many fetes for carnival, why do they insist on having this fete type atmosphere at Panorama. I knew of the Greens through the media etc but while I was walking from my car to the other side of the savannah where the steelbands were, I was shocked to hear a band (not a steelband) performing for patrons on the Greens. This is so disrespectful in the land of the birth of the steelpan. The organisers of the Greens should be ashamed and NEVER allowed to have this facility ever again at Panorama.
I haven't been to a T&T Panorama in donkey years eh, but back in the day the partying happened in the North Stand between performances, and it was was only the house DJ and percussive music that fueled the revelers. So what is this shit about DJs being allowed to set up near the venue to entertain free-for-all bacchanalists? If yuh come to party, go down by Jerningham Ave. wid dat shit!!! I am sick and tired of the gross disrespect afforded the Steelband in T&T. In New York there are NO DJ's for J'ouvert! What is wrong with Trinbagonians that they can't respect their own Pan culture in the same way?
It is not enough that pan is slowly being driven out of J'Ouvert...eh??! Now Pan has to accommodate these cuntrists in Panorama too??! Go 'head man!…when other people show more love and respect for your culture don't be surprised when one day, they eventually beat you at your own game.

There are Pan Lovers/ Fanatics( who follow every beat of Panorama no matter where it is) Pan Followers, Pan limers and Pan TICKS. Pan Ticks are people have no interest whatsoever in PAN but the idea of Panorama as a "I want to be seen/I went to" so they get there and nothing is sacred to them.
I personally do not care if two persons came to Panorama as long as the were there for the love of the instrument and what is taking place. There are many FETES that these people can go to on that day . Long time there was a grandstand and a north stand and that is how it should be no party place. Those people set off fire works when one band started playing
I cant see why one must have a party area if you are coming to a pan competition, I thought this year would of been
different after last years mess, but I guess the Pan head men don't want to lose those big bucks so 40,000 party animals seems like a good deal to them. Why did they allow this walking from one place to the other, if you wanted to hear pan go tot he North Stand or Grand Stand, you want to wine, jam and drink stay in the Greens. What was so wrong with that is just goes to show most of the people who attend Panorama go there for the lime and nothing more, they care not one fart about Pan, and neither does it seem the people in charge do either.

This has to fall on Pan Trinbago. Their incompetence led to this. THE GREENS MUST GO!!! LET THE TRINI POSSE (OR ANY OTHER "POSSES", FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE TO DRINK AND WORSHIP THEIR GOD, BACCHUS, IN THEIR BACCHANALIA!!! TIME TO END THE DISRESPECT NOW!!!!!!!!! THIS IS THE SEPARATION OF CLASS, CARNIVAL STYLE!
